Taiwan Jones finally got the opportunity to show what he could do against the New Orleans Saints. After the game was over, I was left wondering if there was anything that Mr. Jones could not do.Taiwan showcased his elite speed breaking down the sideline on a 22-yard touchdown run. He was consistently clocked from the high 4.2s to low 4.3s in the 40-yard dash. That kind of speed has impressed onlookers at camp including Darren McFadden. That is saying a lot.All told on the evening, Jones had 81 rushing yards on just 13 carries in his first ever NFL action. ...
With four World Series titles, the Oakland A's have been, over the years, a storied franchise, thanks in no small part to their pitchers.Don't get me wrong, the A's have had plenty of pop in their offense as well. But for now let us reminisce about the pitchers who have shined bright over the past 40-plus years. There have been power pitchers, mean pitchers and curve ball pitchers, just to name a few. With all the different types of pitchers came an array of personalities as well. Words like mean, hard-nosed, laid back and stubborn all come to mind when thinking about pitchers from the Athletics' past.Check ...
According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, former Ohio State Buckeyes QB Terrelle Pryor got a seven on the Wonderlic test. Now, even though it's just a test, right now, it's proof that Pryor has no business being an NFL QB.However, before we just go in and say he's going to be awful, let's look at what he'll have to do in order to become an established NFL QB.Check back shortly for an update, and in the meantime, think about the days when the Raiders had some great NFL QBs.Read more Oakland Raiders news on BleacherReport.com
Oakland Raiders, please respond to this "trigger," an article intended to catapult you to a winning attitude. The experiences I have had in urban education programs remind me of those participants who were easily "triggered" to act out certain behaviors. The word is used in an interesting way. Here is the definition: [noun] an act that sets in motion some course of eventsSynonyms: induction, initiation [verb] put in motion or move to act; "trigger a reaction"; "actuate the circuits"Synonyms: trip, actuate, activate, set off, spark off, spark, off, touch off Now take a look at this data and tell me what ...
A lot has been made in the media about the Oakland Raiders' 0-3 preseason record and it has spread to the fans. Everyone needs to just relax because the sky is not falling in Raider Nation. This is a time to get the kinks worked out and find out who's who on your team.In fact, there's a lot going on with the Raiders right now that tells me everything is going to be alright as they get closer to the regular season.Begin Slideshow
The AFC West is one of the most competitive divisions in football year in and year out.  Long standing rivalries and hard fought games against division opponents define the West. Many games simply come down to who puts points on the scoreboard last. Last season the Oakland Raiders swept the division but watched as the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the playoffs only to be bludgeoned into submission by the Baltimore Ravens 30–7.  An argument could be made that the San Diego Chargers were the strongest team in the division and some stats would back that up.  Others would support the ...
With Major League clubs able to expand their rosters to 40 players in just a little over 24-hours, A’s fans may have some new faces to familiarize themselves with soon, just not right away on September 1.The players most likely to find a ticket to Oakland with their name on it will be participating in the Triple-A postseason prior to finding their way down Interstate-80. The River Cats clinched the Pacific Coast League’s Southern Division last Tuesday in a 15-2 route over the Tucson Padres to earn their 10th division title in 12 seasons. ...
Roster cuts are never fun for players, coaches or fans.NFL Rosters must be down to only 53 players for game days. Besides players on IR, the PUP or the practice squad, the rest must be cut. Many teams, the Raiders included, are over 80 and need to cut over a dozen people to get to get under the roster limit. The Raiders already made a few cuts, but more are sure to follow. Here is a look at who is gone, and who else should be cleaning out their lockers.Begin Slideshow
The Oakland Raiders had a tumultuous offseason—but with the lockout, I suppose everyone did—in which they saw their long-standing defensive leader, Nnamdi Asomugha, and their leading pass receiver, tight end Zach Miller, leave in free agency. Also gone was left guard Robert Gallery, and head coach Tom Cable. Though the Raiders improved on and off the field last season, and though they finished at or above .500 for the first time in seven seasons, Al Davis saw fit to jettison Cable despite endorsements from Miller and Gallery, and Cable wound up as offensive line coach in Seattle. It was the right move.Hue ...
There was an old song titled, "Straighten Up and Fly Right," written by Nat King Cole. Before the regular season starts and looking at the data after bye weeks from 2002 to 2010, it just makes sense to share a little wisdom and broadcast a warning. After looking at the data immediately after bye weeks, I think that you will agree the Oakland Raiders need to be put on notice. As a researcher on the careers of some former professional football players, in the past a few years guys may have been guilty of slipping and sliding, having a little fun during bye weeks. ...
