It's all about counting. How many touchdowns since bye week? How many victories since bye week? Some of us are so agitated that we have regressed back to the nursery rhymes that taught us to count. Did you say count? Count what? The number of games the Oakland Raiders will win after bye week, that's what. Alright, here is a rhyme, just for fun. While you are at it, make up one yourself to get you through the week because Sunday is going to be a tense, tough game. Here is mine. It's not perfect, but at least I am hanging in there, pulling for a team that some foks ...
Sunday's shellacking by the Miami Dolphins highlighted Oakland’s coaching staff deficiencies. I noticed that both QBs have consistently under thrown Ford. This is not an ability, as much as a timing issue. Without practicing together, they can't get on the same page. Bruce threw a go to Higgins on Sunday, but Higgins sat down in the zone gap. Had Bruce been throwing to Murphy, he wouldn't have stopped. Higgins did the RIGHT THING in that situation, but Bruce threw to where he expected the receiver to go. This reveals a lack of familiarity between the players. I like Bruce and honestly believe ...
A 66.3 passer rating, 5:7 touchdown to interception ratio, a 52.9 completion rate with a 6.7 yards average per pass are Bruce Gradkowski’s stats this year, comparable only to starters Jake Delhomme and Rusty Smith, the rookie QB for the Tennessee Titans. In the aforementioned stats, Jason Campbell ranks higher, has won 4 of his last 6 games, and continues to throw more touchdowns than picks unlike “Bruce Almighty”. Yet, the bumbling oaf of a coach for the Oakland Raiders, Tom Cable, anointed Gradkowski the chosen horse to gallop the Oakland Raiders into the den of football dynasty after Campbell ...
Fantasy playoff time is upon us.  Most fantasy leagues are only a week or two away from that time of year you've all been waiting for.  With the unpredictable 2010 NFL season, Week 13 may very well determine if you make the cut or just fall short.  One league I'm in, for example, has only seen two teams clinch, with seven teams vying for the remaining four playoff slots.  Week 13 will decide things for all of them. Here are the wide receivers that might be on your radar as we head into this important fantasy football week.   Pickups Jacoby Ford, Oakland Raiders Looks like the Raiders ...
Unlike most jobs the NFL is full of negativity, an every players must fight his way through it or he will never have a chance to complete a single season.  It doesn't matter if the negativity is coming from a coach, fan, or another player on the team, it is an aspect of the NFL that can not be avoided.  Most people only see the NFL in it's final production on Sunday not really knowing any of the behind scenes action. Knowing the truth behind it all is something that most people say they want to know, but wont dare change their own concept of what they ...
Be afraid, Raider fans, be very afraid.  You and your beloved Oakland Raiders have been down this road before.  And, as you may remember, once this team collectively decides to mail it in, the downward spiral never seems to end.  One consolation is that Sunday’s game was blacked out, so you were spared the horror of watching it all unfold.  So break out those bottles of Pepto and stock up on the boxes of Kleenex because this could get ugly real fast! After a tumultuous and embarrassing performance against the average Miami Dolphins, at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, the Raiders defense made a ...
After all the hullabaloo when the Oakland Raiders defeated the Denver Broncos with such a large margin, expectations rose so high that some folks said, like Peggy Lee, "You give me fever." Something happened and now the fans are beginning to feel let down. How do I know? The blackouts have returned. Jacoby Ford is to be commended. He made a fantastic touchdown, starting off "hot" in the beginning of the game. Ford made history. His heart is in the game. If luck is what helped the Oakland Raiders get three consecutive wins, then what changed the luck? Where did they go wrong? I ...
Jacoby Ford has done it again. The Oakland Raiders' wideout has turned yet another interception into a big play, this time on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.  Early in the fourth quarter, Raider quarterback Bruce Gradkowski launched a pass in Ford's direction that appeared to be a sure interception. The ball flew into the hands of Dolphins safety Chris Clemons, who looked certain to come down with the pick.  But Ford would not be deterred, snatching the ball from Clemons the instant he bobbled it, before landing face up on the turf to make the catch.  Ford had himself quite the ballgame on ...
The Oakland Raiders’ Pirate ship has been holed below the water line and is sinking fast. Trying to sure up the holes won’t do anymore–there is too much structural damage. Ahead, roaming the AFC seas, there are two rival craft, in much better shape and determined to finish off the good ship Silver-and-Black. They are hell-bent on reversing the victories the S&B inflicted a little while back. The Raiders look doomed. The “jolly roger” is flying forlornly from the mast and there is talk of mutiny amongst the crew. Second year man Mike Mitchell puts it quite bluntly: "Is everyone going to ...
Who is this team? Seriously folks. How does an NFL team start off shaky, then win three games straight, only to lose horribly to the recent two. It's hard to tell if they are a playoff team or just lucky. In point, how did the Oakland Raiders defeat the Denver Broncos by 59 points, breaking some historic records, then play at home and appear, well, unbalanced. Unbalanced is the best way to describe what we saw today. I wasn't upset as much as I was disappointed to see the Oakland Raiders lose again. For the Oakland Raiders, the season could be ending ...
