The Oakland Raiders had for decades been known as the "Winningest Team in the NFL." However, the past decade has not been nice at all for the Raiders. The team had gone through various coaches such as Art Shell, Lane Kiffin and Tom Cable. The team spirit seemed to be lacking and veterans that were brought in to elevate play seemed to slumber themselves. There were of course some stellar players, but the coaching was at best average until head coach Tom Cable was able to turn things around in the last two seasons. The biggest factor for losing games was ...
Who will come up with the money to get or keep Nnamdi Asomugha? Does Nnamdi love the fellowship of the Raiders or the love of the money that the owner of the Texans may come up with to entice him to Texas? Personally, I hope that Asomugha stays with the Oakland Raiders even though he will become a free agent and has some options. I like the way the man played the game and how he got along with his co-workers. Will Al Davis come up with the money to keep Nnamdi? Will guys like Stanford Routt replace the dynamic ...
Recently word has spread about the four day (Tuesday-Friday) Oakland Raiders camp sponsored by defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who sent out an invitations to all the Oakland Raider players in an email. NFL Nation blog reported the opening statement as saying, "Men, I hope everyone is well and is staying in shape because we are going to out-work everyone we face this season, and it starts right now in the offseason.”You gotta love it!Both QB Jason Campbell and Richard Seymour have invited players to workouts. However, the question that comes to fans of the Oakland Raiders is where ...
What has been the strength of the Oakland A's team—starting pitching—has been bitten by the injury bug once again.Less than a week after announcing starting pitcher Dallas Braden will be out the rest of the season, the pitching depth of the A's farm system will be tested with the loss of their fourth and fifth starters—Brandon McCarthy and Tyson Ross—to the 15-day DL. Ross left his last start on Wednesday with a strained oblique muscle, while the A's announced out of nowhere that McCarthy has a problem with his right scapula, the same shoulder that has plagued McCarthy throughout his career. The ...
The 2010 San Francisco Giants shocked the baseball world when they tore through the postseason with an 11-4 record to win their first World Series championship since 1954.How did they do it?  One word would suffice in explaining their amazing run—pitching.San Francisco's staff gave observers of the game something to remember.  With performance after performance of historic proportions, Giants hurlers utterly shut down offensive juggernauts from Philadelphia and Texas on their way to claiming the crown. When all was said and done, San Francisco's arms had produced four shutouts, compiled an ERA of 2.47, and struck out 133 opposing hitters while ...
Most people believe that the wide receivers are the guys who get the points in many of the NFL games. Here is a chart of data of several outstanding Oakland Raiders who were wide receivers. One comparison uses only the first three years that each player was cited as the outstanding wide receiver. Other observations are made. 506 strongest team Branch 6 418 strongest team Biletnikoff 3 362 strongest team Wells 3 137     Brown 10 124 median   Powell 5 113     Christensen 3 37     Rice 2 -25     ...
In what could now be considered one of the greatest trades for the Oakland Raiders, Pro Bowl defensive lineman Richard Seymour was traded to the Silver and Black in 2009. In order to acquire the star player Oakland gave up their 2011 first round draft pick and paid Seymour 3.685 million. In fact, for many it was hard to swallow that the Raiders had given up their first pick because the past had shown that veterans coming to Oakland seemed to flake. Players like Jeff George, Desmond Howard and a "popeyed" Javon Walker came to Oakland simply to collect. Richard ...
I can't count how many articles I've done on Nnamdi Asomugha since he became a free agent. I have consistently said that he will remain a Raider, and I won't believe he won't be until he is gone. But now, there is speculation all over the place as the media has several outcomes for him. None of them have Asomugha staying in Oakland with the Raiders. Then there's owner Al Davis speaking of how he could get a few more solid players with Asomugha's salary. But I don't see Davis as the type to tell anyone his plans as things like that ...
During the 2011 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected two cornerbacks, much to the dismay of Raider Nation. See, star cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha's contract had voided and he'd become a free agent. The Raiders drafting two corners all but solidified the fact that Asomugha would sign with another team once the lockout ends, right?Wrong.See, Oakland's free safety, Michael Huff, is a free agent who is expected to sign with another team. The only other free safeties on the roster are Round 7 draft pick, Stevie Brown, and special teams ace, Hiram Eugene. So, it's plausible that the Raiders are looking to ...
Are the Oakland Raiders getting more aggressive or not? If we use the rushing yards as a measure for 10 selected games, we just might be able to gain more insight. Consider this table: Name   Rushing YDS Date   Opponent Kaufman, N. 227   Oct 19 1997 Broncos Jackson B   221   Nov 30 1987 Seahawks Daniels Clem 200   Oct 20 1963 Jets Daniels Clem 187   Dec 9 1962 Oilers Dixon Hewitt 187   Sept 29 1968 Oilers Fargas Justin 179   Sept 30 2007 Miami Bush Michael 177   Dec 28 2008 ...
