The "blame game" is going strong in the Raider Nation. We want to blame somebody for our "trail of tears" during these seven years of Oakland Raiders' history. Yes, I am using the phrase that is historically connected to the displacement of some native Americans who ended up in other locations in early American history. A part of my family has a heritage of the "trail of tears," since many of them are from Cherokee County, in Texas. I am tired of tears. So, I am a part of the generation who rebels and shouts for change. Now, I am shouting for a change ...
JaMarcus Russell, according to Adam Schefter's twitter, weighed in at a staggering 290 lbs at the Raider's offseason programs. Now, unless JaMarcus is considering a position change, he is incredibly overweight.  He has earned himself a reputation as lazy, irresponsible, and is now making a run at the throne for biggest NFL bust of all time.  When the Raiders took Russell first overall in the 2007 NFL Draft, they took a big, strong-armed kid from LSU. Little did they know they were getting an immature teenager in an NFL size body.  It could have been an early sign for the Raiders when JaMarcus held ...
The A's had a formidable bullpen in 2009, and the A's are looking to continue that trend. They their AL Rookie of the Year Andrew Bailey, Breakout reliever Michael Wuertz, solid arms Brad Ziegler and Craig Breslow and Joey Devine coming back from a lost 2009 season with Tommy John surgery. Who else will start the year in the A's bullpen? Here's what the remaining candidates in A's camp have done so far:Begin Slideshow
Dear Al Davis, I'm a huge fan of your work, Mr. Davis. I believe without question you are the best owner in the NFL today, and the greatest of all time. Regardless of weather or not you decide to bring Donovan McNabb to the Oakland Raiders, I will still support the sliver and black. I haven't missed a home game in three years, I love going to games, and keeping up with my Raiders knowledge. Lately, I've been hearing rumors that the Oakland Raiders have questioned the Philadelphia Eagles about the services of Donovan McNabb. If this is true, I'm 100 percent ...
Yes, I used the word "outrageous," because what has happened to the Oakland Raiders in the past seven years is outrageous. Having the audacity to compare aspects of the Oakland Raiders franchise with the New Orleans Saints, Indianapolis Colts, and Pittsburgh Steelers is probably going to piss somebody off—and it is a good thing to get a little agitated. Let's just say it is about time to examine the Raiders' situation from every angle, leaving no stones unturned. Anybody who thinks that numbers are not important is living in a very limited reality, in my opinion. If numbers don't matter, then why are ...
This was an article I wasn't going to dare trying to include all 100+ years of A's history on, so I chose to just focus on the Oakland years. Ranking these moments was out of the question too, so I just listed them chronologically. Older A's fans who lived through the 1970's World Series runs, please correct me if I missed any significant moments there. This is my third and final "Evergreen" assignment from bleacherreport.com as part of an agreement in becoming a featured columnist. I'm glad to have these assignments behind me so I can continue writing the articles ...
Now that the Senior Bowl, Combine, and pro-days are behind us, it's time for an event that is just as, if not more, important than any of the other events—something that is often overlooked and receives little attention. It's time for potential draft prospects to visit teams for private workouts. Every year, teams are allowed to have 30 prospects visit their team facility for private workouts and interviews. The reason these workouts are often overlooked is because what happens in team facilities is an unknown. Prospects may conduct interviews, run combine-like drills for coaches, or may even run routes and catch balls from the ...
Lately, many Raiders fans have had a lot to say about the Raiders' seven-year playoff drought. At one time, when players were cast aside by one team and given a second chance in Oakland, it was the highest honor that a player could have. Players usually responded by playing with a renewed vigor and took playing for Al Davis seriously. If any teammate was to try to act contrary to the Raider way, other players quickly met them with an attitude adjustment. But that was then. Since free agency became the standard in the NFL, we have seen new labels for players. Terms like ...
Since the talks of Donovan McNabb-to-St. Louis have been shot down, more crazy rumors are now beginning to make their way around the blogosphere regarding McNabb's future with the Eagles. And apparently, the Raiders are the likeliest team to land McNabb—if you listen to the crazy rantings of the same people who believed McNabb was on his way to St. Louis . As if their credibility wasn't hurt enough, they're now throwing their names behind this far-fetched (at best) rumor. But Mike Florio over at ProFootballTalk.com takes the cake with his report of what he believes a trade ...
The rumor mill is a-buzzing that the Philadelphia Eagles have put quarterback Donovan McNabb on the trading block. Reportedly, the Eagles wanted two first-round picks and a third-round pick. Now, the Eagles would be satisfied with a high second-round pick, which would imply Oakland or Buffalo as the likely trading partner. Both clubs are rumored to have inquired about McNabb, which raises questions about the Raiders, but most importantly, this situation is a curious one, because it seems to me that the Eagles have no leverage in any trade. Everyone knows that the Eagles want to move forward with Kevin Kolb, but ...
