The Oakland Raiders traded a 2012 second-round draft selection and 2011 seventh-round selection to the New England Patriots for their 2011 third and fourth-round selection. The Raiders would then select Joseph Barksdale with the third-round pick and Taiwan Jones with the fourth-round pick. After just over a year on the roster, Barksdale has been waived, according to Adam Caplan of The Sideline View. New general manager Reggie McKenzie has now waived three of Oakland's seven draft picks from 2011 and Jones has recently been dropped to third string on Oakland's depth chart.  It makes sense to dump Barksdale considering the recently-signed Willie ...
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is no longer in the hospital following the brutal hit he took during Sunday's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the team, but he is not a good option for your fantasy football team in Week 4 of the NFL season. Being a fan of the Oakland Athletics is dangerous for your health. If the past few games are any indication, they either win by one run or lose by one run. They either hang on in extra innings or walk off the field dejected that a close one got away. The September 25th game in Arlington against the Texas Rangers was their fifth straight one-run game. This was another extra inning affair, their third in the past five contests. And this time, it was catcher George Kottaras being the hero. He launched a 10th-inning upper deck shot off of Rangers reliever Mark Lowe ...
After an Oakland Raiders victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at home in Week 3 and a 1-2 start, Raider Nation are still not convinced that quarterback Carson Palmer is the right fit for the 2012 Oakland Raiders.   But if he’s not the answer for the Raiders offense, then who (or what) is?Begin Slideshow
For the first time this season, the Raiders won. Not coincidentally, it’s also the first time the Raiders have two stars of the week. (Click here for Week 1 and Week 2 stars). For starters, new head coach Dennis Allen deserves a whole lot more credit than he has gotten this week for a number of reasons. Through a barrage of criticism following the Week 2 blowout, Allen reinforced the troops and got himself his first career win. As I’ve already noted in another piece, a big part of the Oakland win was their ability to limit penalties (they currently ...

After a disappointing start to the new era in Oakland, a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers gave the Raiders the momentum boost they needed heading into the rest of the NFL season. The team won the turnover battle, kept the penalties to an unheard of amount (in a good way) and upended a playoff-caliber team in Pittsburgh to pick up its first win of the year.Despite letting Ben Roethlisberger tear the defense apart, the Raiders came through when it mattered most.Sebastian Janikowski reminded everyone why he's still one of the best in the business with the game-winning 43-yard field ...
Thankfully, Oakland Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey has made a lot of progress since suffering an injury after getting hit hard by Ryan Mundy of the Pittsburgh Steelers. At first glance, fans were right to fear the worst. But the Raiders eased concerns by tweeting today that Heyward-Bey was released from the hospital after being treated for a neck strain and concussion. The team believes the speedy wideout should make a full recovery, which is the best news of all. While it's good to see Heyward-Bey taking steps in the right direction already, fantasy owners can feel safe releasing him after ...
For years, the Oakland Raiders have been the laughingstock of the penalty category in the NFL, and to be honest, it was always for good reason. The Raiders were the king not only of the undisciplined penalty, but also the dumb ones, such as after-the-play personal fouls and the like.As coach after coach came to town in the past, each one said they would emphasize the need to limit the penalties. And then coach after coach was fired after not changing anything. So when new head coach Dennis Allen came to town and said he wanted to limit the penalties, the Oakland ...
