Despite being destroyed by the Steelers last week, the Raiders are still in the playoff hunt.  But another loss might signal the end of the Raiders playoff aspirations.  Both the Raiders and Dolphins are 5-5, meanwhile the Raiders are 4-1 at home, while the Dolphins are 4-1 on the road. These two teams match up fairly evenly, and it should be a good game at the “Black Hole”.  Here are some historical facts and statistics about the matchup in Oakland. From 1966 to 1996 the Raiders were 10-1 when playing the Dolphins at home.  Since 1997, the Raiders have lost five ...
Miami Dolphins at Oakland Raiders Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, 4:15 p.m. EST Line: Even   Overview The 5-5 Miami Dolphins fall victim to playing in the AFC East, where the two best teams in football thus far are four games ahead of the Dolphins. While Playoffs look out of reach at this point, the Dolphins can’t stumble into the end of the season with performances like they had last week, when they laid an egg against the Bears on their home field. The Oakland Raiders are another 5-5 team, but unlike the Dolphins, they are right in the mix of playoff ...
For the last several years, Oakland has been known as a place where dreams go to die. Careers go stagnant, with their only hope, being parole to another club or retiring in shame. For the last seven years, the best record that can be scratched out is 5-11, achieved three separate times during that stretch: the last two seasons, and in 2004. For a better sense of how much a sixth win would mean to this club, look at the team's history. Before 2002, the season of the Super Bowl loss, Oakland failed to tally six wins only five times in their ...
The Miami Dolphins will be flying to Oakland, CA to match-up against the legendary Silver and Black. The Oakland Raiders are going to have to look sharp as they are in the hunt for playoff contention. The Oakland Raiders now are 5-5 after a horrible loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. The Oakland Raiders tried to establish a running attack against the Steelers, but was basically shutdown. It seems that, had the Oakland Raiders run Darren McFadden or Marcel Reece out of the back field more or even just solid pounding from RB Michael Bush, then the Raiders would ...
At 5-5 the Oakland Raiders aren't exactly where they would like to be, but as we all know, things could be worse.  Oakland currently sits one game back of the Kansas City Chiefs, who are 6-4.  The Raiders are a missed 32-yard FG away from still being in first, but it is what it is and they sit a game back in the AFC West. The Oakland Raiders need to just do their job and not worry about the Chiefs or Chargers.  As long as the Raiders get back to what they do best, they should be alright.  The return ...
Do you remember what inspired you to expand your horizons and to become a winner? Demetria Walker does. The Oakland Raiders were winners during the early years of her career. She believed, she, too, could become a winner. She joins the fans in Raider Nation by a belief that the Oakland Raiders can reclaim their glory and inspire young people, even now. On this Black Friday in 2010, Walker is one of many whose industry has been affected by the ups and downs of the economy. Black Friday is a day designed to boost sales in the United States. The winning spirit and last-minute victories of ...
The Oakland Raiders face the Miami Dolphins this Sunday in what should be called a must-win game on both sides. The result hinges on whether the Raiders can stop an inconsistent Dolphin rushing attack. With Brandon Marshall unlikely to make the trip and the quarterback situation up in the air, the Dolphins will surely rely heavily on the two-headed monster of Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown. Don't expect to see only seven rushing attempts like last Thursday night against the Bears, unless this game gets out of hand early. If the Raiders' much-improved run defense comes up big, this could be an ...
Following a brutal loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Richard Seymour, Darren McFadden and the rest of the Oakland Raiders return home to take on a desperate Miami Dolphins team.At 5-5, the Raiders are only one game behind in their division and hold the tie break against all three teams in their division—for now. That said, this is still a must win game for Oakland. To make a run at the playoffs, or even the Super Bowl, teams must do several things. The first of which is win the games their supposed to win.The is a game the Raiders should win.The Dolphins are ...
A day after the Pittsburgh debacle, the boo-birds were back out in force. How could so many people instantly go blind to the last five weeks? For one, the Raiders did have some help to their falling from grace on Sunday. Ben Roethlisberger's antics on Sunday did what Pittsburgh's offensive line couldn't do, neutralize Richard Seymour. For all their mouthy comments, I hope we get one more shot at Ben...just for some payback. As for the Raiders, some problems that haunted the team are now being solved. Nnamdi Asomugha is healing up nicely, about 90 percent of normal, according to the Raiders' camp. ...
At my site—www.GuysNation.com—I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams.  It's a hugely subjective process in which I try to account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses. Where do the Oakland Raiders currently rank? I'll admit it, I was starting to buy into the Oakland Raiders.  Leading into their bye week, they were on a good three-game streak.  They got a HUGE victory in lopsided fashion against the Broncos in Denver.  They followed that up by getting another lopsided win, this time while hosting the Seahawks.  Their Week 9 ...
