In only his second full year as head coach, Tom Cable has just about guaranteed a playoff spot and has openly stated their commitment to winning the division.  But I want to take it a little further and predict that the Raiders make it to the AFC Championship Game! The Raiders, also known as the "Team of the Decades," was the first franchise to play in a Super Bowl in four different decades.  But what is more significant about their postseason consistency and this upcoming season is that 2010 marks another beginning of another decade, which means another Raiders trip to the ...
On September 6th, 2009 the Oakland Raiders made a blockbuster trade for five-time Pro Bowler Richard Seymour. This led to a firestorm of rumors that Seymour refused to play for the Raiders and would not report to the team. He later flew to Oakland and revealed he had been a Raider fan as a child. Seymour recorded two sacks in Oakland's season opener on September 14th, two days after he had reported to the team. Richard played defensive end for the majority of the season, but did get some looks at defensive tackle. Now fast forward to July of 2010. The Raiders are ...
Rookie linebacker Rolando McClain agreed to a deal with the Oakland Raiders late last night. This happened hours before the team started their first training camp practice. McClain was the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, and is third first-round pick to sign a contract and highest to do so. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com Insider, the contract the linebacker out of Alabama signed was believed to be a five-year $40 million deal along with $23 million guaranteed. Other first-round picks that have been signed were Dez Bryant of the Dallas Cowboys and Devin McCourty of the New England ...
It has now been three full seasons since the 2007 NFL Draft occurred.  For those of you who can't put faces on this particular year, this is the draft where JaMarcus Russell's athleticism was supposed to impress everyone for years to come, and we all laughed at the plight of Brady Quinn as he nervously wiggled in his chair before being landed by the team who wanted him most, Cleveland. But what none of us like to remember is the longevity of this first round.  Six hours and eight minutes of nothing but talk about predictions by talking heads, ...
The Oakland Raiders' first round pick, Rolando McClain, was signed minutes before the stroke of midnight. Now the Raiders have all their rookies signed in time for camp and can officially put all hands on deck in preparation for the 2010 season. The Raiders continue to build on a strong offseason with the McClain signing. Keep in mind, McClain is only one of three first rounders to be under contract, and is the only top-10 rookie to be signed. Though the Raiders have struggled mightily in recent history, they deserve a lot of respect for their 2010 offseason progression, and McClain's ...
There is no substitute for veteran leadership. Fans that showed up at Oakland Raiders' training camp early in the hopes of seeing some of the 2010 rookie class were treated to a bit of a surprise. Ten-year veteran Richard Seymour arrived on the same bus as the rookies they had hoped to see. The value of this cannot be overstated. When a young player sees a consummate professional like Seymour showing up to camp early, it speaks volumes about how important this part of the game is. It forces them to realize what they are about to undertake is vital to the ...
So far this offseason the Oakland Raiders have added a lot of players through the draft, trades, and free agency.  This leads to a great thing.  Competition.  There are a few positions on the roster that are up for grabs.  No matter how good you are there is always room for improvement so you always have to bring your A-game.  Lets take a look at some of the starting positions that are still there for the taking. WR, Chaz Schilens, Louis Murphy, and Darius Heyward-Bey All three of our young WRs have the ability to be the No. 1 guy.  They all are ...
Maybe the biggest surprise release of the 2010 off season was Jaguars DT John Henderson. After being released, speculation emerged that Henderson was washed up and no longer a Pro Bowl caliber tackle. Reports suggested Henderson had character issues and coach Del Rio didn’t want the distraction any longer. Is he washed up? The truth may be hidden in the details. Because none of us actually know how much Henderson has left in the tank or what went on behind closed doors in Jacksonville, lets look at the facts of the off season. Beginning in March, the Jaguars set out to improve on their league ...
This article is a follow-up to a previous article on the topic of whether Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is great.   You see, I have used Tom Brady as an example for a larger problem that I have—people will fixate too heavily on statistics in order to ascertain whether a football player is great.  I emphasize the words "football player," because greatness in football is different than baseball, basketball, or hockey. I have this problem because the Hall of Fame has consistently denied the induction of Raiders great Ken Stabler, for reasons that clearly contradict reality.  Stabler may have thrown too many picks, but regardless ...

The video should be up on csnbayarea.com later in the day.Read more Oakland Raiders news on BleacherReport.com
