Free agency is over. Maybe not technically, but all the top players are off the market, and signings have slowed to a crawl. Only a few stragglers remain of fringe-starter quality, who likely priced themselves out of the market early or have other serious flaws. The Oakland Raiders signed 10 players, which is by far the most in the league. General manager Reggie McKenzie added starters, role players and backups, but it’s what he didn’t add that is the most notable. He didn’t sign a wide receiver or a pass-rusher, crystallizing the Raiders’ two biggest needs. They will target both positions in ...
The Oakland Raiders have been able to address a handful of needs via free agency thus far. However, general manager Reggie McKenzie’s job isn’t done. There are two glaring holes in the roster that are in need of impact players and a few roster positions in need of an upgrade in order to propel the Raiders to the playoffs. First and foremost, Raiders Nation wants to know who will step in as playmakers on offense? Secondly, where will the pass rush come from? No disrespect to Justin Tuck, but Oakland needs younger players who are willing to get after the quarterback and hold ...

Now that the Oakland Raiders have signed running back Trent Richardson—one of the biggest draft busts this side of JaMarcus Russell—it’ll be up to the coaching staff to try to get something out of him. Where the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts have failed, the Raiders will try to succeed. Considering Richardson’s career average of 3.3 yards per carry is the worst for any running back with at least 600 carries since the merger, it may be an impossible task. How can the Raiders get something out of a player who has been a net negative at his two prior stops? Contrary to ...
With a little over two weeks remaining in spring training, it's becoming clearer by the game who will win each of the Oakland Athletics' position battles. Of course, a few things have changed since camp opened. Sam Fuld and Craig Gentry were set to battle for left field. However, the team moved former center fielder Coco Crisp to left and plan to platoon Fuld and Gentry in center. Josh Reddick strained an oblique but should be ready by Opening Day. The No. 1 battle is for a starting rotation spot. Sonny Gray and Scott Kazmir are the only locks. That leaves Jesse Chavez, Drew ...
Even after an efficient start to free agency, the Oakland Raiders still have a lot of needs on the roster. One area the team is still particularly weak in is playmakers. Fortunately, they have the fourth-overall pick in the draft, which means they can take one of the top prospects at any position. But the number of options also create a dilemma. With so many options available, what direction should the team go in? Despite not adding any of the "big names" in free agency, the team is moving in the right direction. The roster now has a solid foundation. The next ...
The Oakland Raiders entered the NFL offseason with a lot of cap space to spend in free agency.  Did they make the right additions? How will the new players affect their 2015 NFL season? Trent Richardson was bulletproof. He was a can't-miss, surefire prospect. A turnkey Hall of Famer. During the 2012 draft cycle, Bleacher Report NFL draft lead writer Matt Miller explained Richardson was a paragon of the ideal in every trait a scout evaluates. Best of all, a tailback's natural talent translates more readily to NFL success than perhaps any other position. Miller was far from the only one to peg Richardson as the top running back in the class, a top-five overall talent selection and the best tailback prospect in years. In fact, NFL Network's Mike Mayock called Richardson the best tailback prospect "since Adrian ...
The Oakland Raiders have a major hole at wide receiver that they could look to fill in Round 1 of the 2015 NFL draft.Which WR should the Raiders target with their fourth overall pick?  Should they go with pro-ready Amari Cooper from Alabama or take a risk on the unlimited potential of West Virginia's Kevin White?Watch as Adam Lefkoe and NFL Draft Analysts Matt Miller and Chris Simms discuss the Raiders' best option in the video above.Read more Oakland Raiders news on BleacherReport.com
