It comes down to this: Beat Jamaal Charles and the Kansas City Chiefs in week 17 and the Oakland Raiders will go 8-8 overall and 6-0 in division. This would mean they can no longer be called losers. It's a lot to play for.The last time these two teams met, the Chiefs started strong, but the Raiders stormed back in the second half to earn an overtime victory. The game plan for Oakland should look much the same as it did in the previous matchup, but it has to be executed from start to finish if the Raiders want to win again. The ...
It would seem as though some Raider fans believe that retaining Tom Cable this offseason is, without a doubt, the best thing for the Oakland Raiders. They feel that after another losing season that he deserves an extension because the team is behind him; they also don't even want to consider the other coaching candidates out there. But going about things this way would be a huge mistake. Their are numerous coaching candidates out there worthy of at least being given a look and the Raiders should interview all of them. Now, don't get me wrong I'm not suggesting that the Raiders need to just ...
The Raiders had performed well this season hopefully ending at 8-8. its a great improvement for a franchise that has performed dismally the last seven years. That being said there are several things that must happen this upcoming off-season in order to move forward and return to the Superbowl.  First and foremost are resigning several players. First among them is Richard Seymour. Richard Seymour  is one of those players who makes everyone around him better. He is the Tom Brady of the defensive line. He brings a mean streak and determination to the game that cannot be replicated by any other ...
Doing power rankings is tough, but because of the limited number of games on the NFL schedule, it's one of the only ways to get an idea of which teams are better besides just looking at their records. At my site—www.GuysNation.com—I do a weekly power ranking of all 32 NFL teams. It's a hugely subjective process in which I account for a team's strength of schedule, margin of victory, good wins and bad losses. Where do the Oakland Raiders currently rank? I'll admit it—I was starting to buy into the Oakland Raiders. Leading into their bye ...
The Oakland Raiders usually play solid defense. They play solid defense for 85 percent of the game. The other 15 percent, they give up huge plays that turn the momentum of a game. Why?The Raiders tend to stuff runners, then give up a 40 yard sprint down field. Watching the film, this is usually on the rookie, Rolando McClain.Let's say the opposing team runs a 22 dive up the middle. The center's job is to get McClain. Rolando is supposed to react and hit the gap with full force, but the center gets to him first due to hesitation. It's a ...
The Oakland Raiders Franchise is the self proclaimed "Team of the Decades." The 2000's was a decade to forget, but the Raiders still managed to make a Super Bowl. The Raiders have only failed to make it to the Super Bowl in one decade and that was the 90's. 2010 was the start of a new decade and it was a new start for the Raiders. There were many moments that led the Raiders to one of their best seasons since 2002.There were releases, trades, drafts and hires that changed the way the Raiders played football.2011 is quickly on it's way so ...
We know that it's difficult for the young, talented players to play their final game of the 2010 season while realizing that they missed the playoffs in 2010. Deal with it. Go into the game on Sunday with the same determination you had in earlier games. Let your fury rise up since you missed a great opportunity this season. Show the world you deserved more this season, except for some blunders which can be "fixed" before 2011. We know that it is hard to think about putting in your best effort when it may not really matter in the minds of some people. However, it does ...
The Raiders hold a perfect 5-0 record against their divisional rivals out-scoring them 184 to 97 and are looking to make it a perfect 6-0 with a victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17. And as I'm sure you know, the Raiders are no longer playing for a spot in the playoffs, while the Chiefs are. For both teams, this game means almost nothing. The Raiders are playing for bragging rights and the Chiefs may or may not be playing to hold onto the No. 3 seed in the playoffs. Strangely, even if the Raiders sweep the division, they will not ...
This has been a very, very interesting season. The Raiders have improved in quite a few areas this year and have fallen back in some, but overall, I think this team is heading in the right direction. I think last year's draft was fantastic for the team and this years draft will put them over the top. I have not been able to write anything for sometime due to some serious medical issues but I am back with a vengeance this year to represent my beloved Oakland Raiders. Let's get this party started with an insanely early mock draft. There ...
Going into this season, many wondered how the offense and defense would be changed considering the shakeup with the coaching staff. Tom Cable's offensive duties were slimmed down, with Hue Jackson taking over some of the issues. Meanwhile John Marshall, the new defensive coordinator, was inheriting a team incapable of stopping the run. Fast forward to now, and while some improvements have been made...there is still work to be done. For one, the offense seems to have straightened out its mess, with a couple of glaring exceptions. Oakland has failed to reach double digits only twice, against the Steelers and the 49ers. ...
